Anyone who's driven from the Central Valley to the coast and vice versa knows what a dull and tiresome trek it can be. To break up the monotony, it can be a pleasant distraction to pull over, stretch the legs, and maybe grab a snack.

Casa de Fruta is conveniently located for this. It offers shade and easy highway entry/exit, both of which are lacking at the nearby San Luis Reservoir.

Casa De Fruta has something for everyone in my family! Wine tasting (Casa de Wine), train rides (Casa de Choo-choo) and carousel, fruit stand, candy store (Casa de Sweets) and much more. It's a great place to play, and has the BEST pomegranate wine ever!

Greetings David,

We used to make this trip all the time and we ALWAYS had to make a stop at Casa de Fruta! In fact, Hubby Wolf and I drove it once again a few months ago and took quite a few pictures in anticipation of writing about it - so glad you beat me to the punch!! ;D

But I HAVE posted the photos on Facebook at Casa de Fruta.

Thanks so much for your contribution to our Northern California experience - I didn't know about the Pomegranate wine. I'll give it a try next time! ;D
